ENVIRONMENT

We work for social transformation in the country, through projects that seek to recover and conserve Colombia's invaluable natural heritage. To achieve this, we promote projects and strategic alliances to ensure a sustainable, resilient and low-carbon development model.

Through our strategic commitment, we promote the conservation and restoration of Colombia's water basins, encourage the sustainable use of ecosystems and their biodiversity, and promote the consolidation of the country's protected areas. We also promote the creation of increasingly sustainable cities that aim to balance development and the well-being of communities, mitigating the effects of climate change, efficient resource management, solid waste management, and sustainable production.

At the Santo Domingo Foundation we promote projects and alliances that allow us to respond to the great environmental challenges and to achieve this we work in three programs

Get to know our projects

We contributed to the conservation of 2,200 hectares of the Chingaza páramo, promoting the conservation of strategic ecosystems and contributing to improving their quality of life, together with Biocuenca, Bavaria, the Mayor's Office of Bogotá and the Government of Cundinamarca.

We generate reliable, impartial and comparable information on the situation of the country's national natural parks, together with academia, social organizations and civil society.

Restauración sostenible del Bosque Seco Tropical

Together with the community, we promote the restoration and protection of the Tropical Dry Forest of the Department of Magdalena, through the collection of high quality seeds of native plants, the development of seed orchards and the planting of forest species, in alliance with Refocosta, the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) and Bioversity International.

Through biocredits, we promote an inclusive mechanism that promotes the financing of biodiversity conservation projects in the country, to ensure the sustainability of ecosystems, together with Terrasos and the Bid Lab.

We worked to consolidate a protected landscape model in the Tochecito river basin, impacting 8,900 hectares, which is home to the largest wax palm population in the country, together with the Las Mellizas Foundation and the Humboldt Institute.

We succeeded in having more than 6 million hectares of Colombian territory declared protected areas, together with Parques Nacionales Naturales de Colombia, WWF Colombia and WCS.
